Student Guides Training Programme
The Memorial Hall trained a total of 157 student guides as Youth Ambassadors from nine different schools since its re-opening in 2011. Apart from guiding their classmates, peers or even alumni members from their own school, our Youth Ambassadors also conducted special guided tours for our Ministers and overseas guests on several occasions last year and they include Mr Lui Tuck Yew, Minister for Transport, Ms Grace Fu, Second Minister for the Environment and Water Resources and Second Minister for Foreign Affairs as well as the delegates of the 24th International Sun Yat Sen-Soong Ching Ling Museums Conference in November 2012.
The Memorial Hall’s engagement of Youth Ambassadors was noted for its innovative way of “keeping the Sun Yat Sen spirit alive” and visitors were also deeply impressed by the high level of confidence displayed in our Youth Ambassadors.
The Memorial Hall will continue to work closely with the Ministry of Education to actively promote our student guides training programme to more schools in Singapore and we expect to conduct the programme for over 80 pupils from St Nicholas Girls School, Yishun Town Secondary School, Anderson Secondary School and Chung Cheng High School by June 2013.
